Jekko and the 2000th crane: many happy returns!
In 2020, a difficult year under many aspects, Jekko has reached a double milestone: at JDL exhibition in France the company delivered to French dealer ATN Platforms its 2000th crane, exactly 20 years after its first mini crane prototype.
It has been 20 years since Jekko developed the first model of a mini crane in 2000. From that moment on, the Treviso-based company has always been betting and investing in new models and new lifting solutions, supported and rewarded by a growing interest coming from the market, gaining an important place among the most relevant mini crane producers worldwide.
It is worth to mention that the 2000th unit is new SPX650 model, the latest machine launched last July during a live streaming presentation. This mini crane embodies cutting-edge technical solutions and innovations and has already drawn the attention of the experts, promising to become a flagship model of Jekko range.
The 2000th crane was delivered to ATN Platforms, which recently took the place of Fassi France and is new Jekko dealer in the French market. JDL exhibition was therefore the perfect setting for a symbolic delivery of the machine, sealing a new relationship which has already started in the best way possible.
“We are so glad of having reached this important milestone and delivering our 2000th crane to our French distributor ATN Platforms makes us very proud – comments Mr. Alberto Franceschini, Jekko Export Manager – France is one of the most important markets for us and we have been operating there for 13 years, at first together with Miltra, then with Fassi France and now with ATN Platforms. We would like to thank Mr. Roger Boutonnet, ATN Platforms President, and his son Benoit, who first started the cooperation between Miltra and Jekko in 2007, and also Mr. Gilles Cheval and Mr. Frédéric Leclerc. Without their precious support we wouldn’t be where we are today”.
The long wait is over: JDL exhibition, the annual trade fair dedicated to handling, lifting, transporting and elevation of people, is confirmed and will take place from 9th to 11th September in Beaune, France.
ATN Platforms, who was recently designated Jekko’s official importer in France, will also take part in the event and at its stand (#A6) will showcase two of the most important models of Jekko range: the already known and appreciated SPX532 and the new SPX650, the latter on display for the first time after the official streaming presentation last July.
Lights will be pointed on SPX650, the new 5 ton mini crane with a maximum reachable height of 23.5 m (with jib) which embodies many state-of-the-art innovations and the most advanced technical solutions already successfully applied in the SPX532 and SPX1280 models: cutting edge stabilisation and hydraulic systems, new hydraulic jib and runner jib, a lithium battery power supply and a handy radio remote control. The crane features also other important functionalities such as the possibility of working either with hook or winch, the extendable tracks, the availability of pick & carry mode and the telemetry system J-Connect.
The SPX650 model on display is particularly important for Jekko, since it will actually be the 2000th crane produced by the company, exactly 20 years after the very first unit. The crane will be delivered to ATN Platforms, to seal a relationship which has already started on the right foot.
The new multifaceted mini crane by Jekko has finally arrived and was officially presented on 30th July with a live streaming event.
Jekko has welcomed the latest addition to its range, SPX650, the 5 ton mini crane with a maximum reachable height of 23.5 m (with jib) which embodies many state-of-the-art innovations and promises to become a flagship model of the Treviso-based company. Thanks to the experience gained over the last two years with SPX532 and SPX1280, Jekko could concentrate in one machine the best features and the most advanced technical solutions already successfully applied in the two best-selling models.
Discover SPX650
SPX650 boasts cutting edge stabilisation and hydraulic systems, new hydraulic jib and runner jib (with plug & play attachment), a lithium battery power supply and a handy radio remote control. Besides that, the crane features other important functionalities such as the possibility of working either with hook or winch, the extendable tracks, the availability of pick & carry mode and the telemetry system J-Connect. And all this without neglecting the design and quality materials, with a close attention to detail.
“The idea behind new SPX650 comes from the market needs. – explains Mr. Alberto Franceschini, Jekko Export Sales Manager – Our customers were looking for medium size mini crane, with a length of the boom over 20 m and a very good lifting capacity. Operators were asking for a crane that can work both indoor and outdoor, suitable in many job sites: glazing, curtain walls installation, steel erection, industrial maintenance. So we analysed both what the competition was offering and our own range, and the result is SPX650”.
In view of 2020/2021 sport season, Benetton Rugby is glad to welcome Jekko as a new commercial partner.
Jekko logo will be placed on the side of the shorts of the match uniform worn by the Lions in the international events. Not only that: Jekko brand will appear on sidelines led, on the big screen, on Benetton Rugby website and mobile app and many other occasions.
“Both Benetton Rugby and Jekko come from the hard-working and dynamic province of Treviso, and both compete internationally. – Says Mr. Diego Tomasella, Jekko CEO – To face the many daily challenges, team spirit, clear and shared goals, commitment and mutual support are needed. Jekko has always based on these values and we could find them also in the Lions of Treviso. We are proud of becoming sponsor of such an important reality”.
“We are extremely pleased of starting a new partnership with Jekko, a major company standing at our side, with which we share values and goals each one in their own sector, wishing that next season will be rich of satisfaction for both of us” comments Mr. Amerino Zanatta, President of the green-and-white club.
Jekko is welcoming a new addition to the family of mini cranes with the SPX650. The long-awaited new model has a maximum lifting capacity of 5 tons and embodies all the latest major innovations engineered by the Treviso-based company. The new SPX650 implements many state-of-the-art technical solutions successfully applied to the recent and highly appreciated SPX532 and SPX1280.
Having set aside the original idea of presenting machine officially at the Apex trade fair in Maastricht, which has been postponed from June this year to June 2021 due to the Covid-19 health emergency, Jekko will be introducing the new SPX650 to the world during a live streaming event next July. We can take a sneak peek of some of the main features and functions of the machine ahead of the event.
MPK06, a new minipicker for new building yard requirements
The growing family of Jekko minipickers welcomes model MPK06, the new self-propelled electric crane that operates with either hook or manipulator
A small machine is a great help while working. This is the promise by the newborn to the Jekko family: the MPK06 minipicker has compact size and limited weight yet it lifts up to 600 kg (1.322 lb) and serves the craft and the industrial sectors.
“Model MPK06 is going to set the pace in the world of work – maintains Alessio Forcolin, Italian sales agent at Jekko – The requirements of building yards are evolving: skilled labour isn’t always available in the quantity needed but in the meanwhile loads to be hoisted increase, no matter the sector, be it glazing laying, craft or industry in general. The market was waiting for this new concept of minipickers: compact, lightweight and deploying elevated lifting capacity, and Jekko has met the challenge”.

DESIGNED TO OPERATE WITH EITHER HOOK OR MANIPULATOR
The MPK06 is the one and only minipicker that – in compliance with the EN13000 standards – has a dual operating mode, with a hook or a vacuum manipulator for glazing laying. Other unique features of this crane are the 360° continuous rotation of the manipulator and the 10° right-and-left electrical rotation of the turret, which moves the load to the sides still having quite a reduced overall size and enabling access to the most confined places.
The machine is 100% electrically powered, both during travel and arm operation. It is fitted with a 3kW motor powered by 2 x 12V-155Ah traction batteries for constant performance during use. The electric motor is silent and emission-free for indoor operation; the new electric actuators, whose performance compares that of regular hydraulic cylinders, deliver up to three fast and smooth movements at a time without performance loss. The MPK06 has no hydraulic parts: this means lower maintenance costs and makes the crane ideal for work in the most sensitive contexts since oil leaks are prevented. The manipulator electric rotation and the electric extension of the second boom are available as an option.
EASY TO DRIVE AND OPERATE
Easy to use, the MPK06 doesn’t require any specific training to be operated. The convenient drawbar on board the machine makes it easy to drive it; a user-friendly wired remote control is also available, which allows to travel on wheels in a straight line in combination with the mechanical block on the drawbar, making work easier and more accurate for the operator during installation.
The MPK06 is fitted with a simple system of modular and removable counterweights accounting for a total of 200 kg (441 lb). They can be removed whenever the machine has to be hoisted with a crane or moved in a lift so its weight it brought down to as little as 720 kg (1.587 lb).
COMPETITIVE EDGE
The unique features of this new minipicker by Jekko make it fit for several sectors. It is ideal not only for glazing laying and for the installation of windows and doors but also for the craft sector, for industrial maintenance and for the hiring business in general. Equipped with sturdy metal sheet housings and off-road run-flat tyres, the MPK06 faces the most challenging yard conditions. For indoor operations white no-marking tyres are available as an option. Compact in size and reduced in weight, this minipicker is ideal to be transported inside a regular van.
After the successful JF365 a new, more performing model hits the market and offers superior lifting capacity still within the overall dimensions of a “non-oversized” transport.
The crawler crane by Jekko grows up, not in terms of dimensions but rather in performance, capacity and innovation.
After the sales success of models JF545 and JF365, Jekko has once again raised the bar and offers a crawler crane featuring all the characteristics of the F990 by Fassi. That’s how the JF990 has been developed: “a winning bet” as declared by Alberto Franceschini, Export Sales Manager Jekko.
It’s a real evolution of the species where the traditionally compact dimensions (6,75 x 2,14 x 3,45 metres – 265 ¾ x 122 ½ x 84 ¼ ) combine with increased extension capacity (up to 41 metres – 134 ft), very elevated lifting capacity (max 21.500 kg – 47.400 lb) and advantages in transport.
The JF990 can work vertically or horizontally, it overcomes, goes round, uses the hook or the winch; it can also be equipped with a glass pane manipulator, a 3-person hydraulic platform in case of operation with a double articulated joint, and a 1- or 2-operator basket when using the jib to reach as high as 38 m. The hydraulic activation on the jib allows for any additional option to be installed.
STANDARD AND EXTRA COUNTERWEIGHT
This machine can use a 2,1-ton (4.630-lb) standard counterweight for stabilization on an area of 8,5 x 8,5 metres (28 x 28 ft) as well as a 3-ton (6.612-lb) extra counterweight reducing the crane footprint to an area of 7 x 7 metres (23 x 23 ft). The disassembly system – a fast and automatic quick release system similar to that of much bigger cranes – is managed via the radio remote control.
The new SPX1280, the versatile minicrane featuring endless options of stabilization
You might see the world in black or white, or consider a glass always half-full or half-empty. But between the extremes there are endless options. This is the concept underlying the new SPX1280: beyond the limits, the world has no limits, and the operator turns into a painter whose palette offers all the colours of the rainbow and their endless combinations and nuances.
From art to yard, the step seems far too long but it’s the principle that counts and makes everything easier. The SPX1280 encompasses new-generation technology that fully exploits the concepts of stability and hoisting.
This results in straightforwardness and versatility for the operators to enjoy a new working experience and endless operating configurations, pushing to the extremes the concept of performance. A closer look at the characteristics and performance of the new SPX1280 will make you feel several light-years have gone since the launch of its predecessor, the SPX1275, that now gives way to Jekko’s newborn after long years of good and loyal service.
This machine is a real blank page for the operator, who can use endless configurations to be exploited very easily, notably through a completely revised user interface – maintains Mauro Tonon, Export Sales Manager Jekko. – The SPX1280 has a maximum safe working load equal to 8 tons and reaches 26.6 m in height when the hydraulic jib is installed. Considering its weight, size and stabilization area, it’s no doubt the most performing machine within its sector. And of course the Pick & Carry mode for operation at 360° with a 2-ton load, Jekko’s trademark, is obviously available.
The stabilization system of the SPX1280 considers several factors in order to determine the possible working conditions. Depending on the opening angle and the extension of the stabilisers – as well as the possible use of the counterweight – the machine software can define in real time the maximum safe working load in a specific point. In the past this wasn’t possible at such an extent since partial extensions of the stabilizers and 0° to 45° intermediate angles couldn’t be taken into account. The stabilization degrees have increased from four to seven and their displaying on the interface is easier and user-friendly.
AN ADVANCED AND PRECISE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
GIS 2019: great interest from renovation, craftsmanship and “green” worlds
At the 7th edition of GIS we showcased some new models, among which there were the new mini cranes SPX532 and SPX1280 and the new minipicker MPK06, together with well known and appreciated models such as JF545, SPX424 and SPX312.
Among the machinery on display, JF545 crawler crane keeps on raising a lot of interest in those working in the industry. The perfect combination of compact dimensions (5,4 x 1,8 x 2,8 m) and high lifting capacity (15,5 tons) together with a 30 m main boom and the possibility of using man-baskets makes this model one of the most requested by crane operators and rental companies.
“During GIS we received a lot of requests regarding small but at the same time powerful cranes. The introduction of regulations in order to limit land consumption and the following increase of renovation works of existing buildings implicate the necessity of working in narrow and hard to reach spaces. Jekko range represents the ideal solution for all those who operate in this type of construction site” highlights Alessio Forcolin, Jekko Sales Manager for Italy.
According to a report recently released by Sogeea Study Centre about urban regeneration in Italy, renovation works are worth approximately 17% of Italian GDP. This data emphasises the increasingly central role of this sector compared to the one of new constructions. “When talking about maintenance and renovation works, especially in urban areas, JF545 is second to none” Alessio Forcolin concludes.
Lithium battery-powered cranes also stood out among the other models displayed, including the new SPX532. “Jekko was the first mini crane manufacturer to invest in eco-friendly technology of lithium batteries, which allow longer work cycles with consistent performance” Alessio Forcolin explains. Compared to the traditional ones, lithium batteries have a longer charge duration (up to 10 hours) with fast charging time and a service life up to 10 years.
A lot of interest, especially in the craftsmanship world, was generated by minipicker MPK06 thanks to the possibility of working whether in pick & carry mode with hook or glass manipulator. The machinery, full electric, is the only minipicker with rotation of the main column (+/- 15°), has a maximum capacity of 600 kg and performs up to 3 movements simultaneously.
Being part of the Made In Italy excellences at GIS makes us once again proud of the growth path done in these years and pays back the constant investment in the research of cutting-edge solutions. All of this wouldn’t be possible without the precious discussions with those who daily work on site in any condition and want to win all challenges.
